Philippians 2:1-4 (New International Version)
1If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. 3Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. 4Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.
To encourage unity, we must speak love and compassion to others. It is easy to give lip service to the unity of fellowship in the church, but continue to insist upon our right to do things as we please, even though this is directly opposite to the spirit. We all face the challenge to be more responsible than this in faith. We must all strive to live in a way that reflects the life of Christ and fulfils the call of God.
